Where to begin...

Hello! So, I'm Lydia. I'll be a senior soon. And I have a confession. I know nothing about anime. *GASP* I know, tragic. But, I will fix that this summer by watching as much anime as humanly possible with the help of my wonderful boyfriend who is quite patient with my naiveness towards anime. However, I have one problem. I don't know where to start. So I'm asking you where to begin. Suggestions please! My lack of understanding must be put to an end. Thanks!

Well, we have all of the Miyazaki movies and the first season of Full Metal Alchemist at hand to watch whenever. Smile

I might also recommend Fairy Tail as a good mainstream starter anime. And Clannad as a good romance. (Unless you don't want your man-tears showing Razz

)

I would suggest a bit more, but it's always good to start with good starters, and then work up into the more 'different' stuff. And with my tastes...well, people would be confused. (I like the mind-boggling lolwut anime) You have to just work your way up, then try different things, and then figure out what you like best from there.

THEN I can make more suggestions. Cool

I was going to show her Clannad but thats a bit tear jerking for a first anime. Razz

I was gonna start her probably with a comedy of some sort to get used to the complete and utter non-sensicalness of anime Razz

i read the manga myself. Is there a discrepancy between the two? Or are they the same?

Umm...pretty much the same. I started getting tired of the series after a while, but up until then, I loved it. (Both anime and mangawise)
