| Hello. Most of you who dont know me personally, know me as that strange, quiet and socially akward kid who sits in the back of your classroom and does just about anything except the work handed to me. If you wish to know me better, I am a big literature and music junkie. As well as most of the arts in general, including but not limited to painting, drawing, sculptures, etc. So you get the basic gist of my personality. Very artsie. Which is interesting because no one before me was majorly into music or art except for my grandfather, who unfortunately was diagnosed with a disease called alzheimers (not gonna explain really, it's depressing) before I was really old enough to understand human interactions and build a close bond with him. Everyone in my family loves literature, and most are very knowledgable about all sorts of music and art. However they never exposed me to it. So I am not sure where my interest in the arts came from. I had always wanted to play an instrument when I was young and growing up in pre-school and what not, but looking back I am not sure why. Anyways, soon as I hit middle school I picked up my trombone for the first time and it was like I had just stepped into a new world. I couldn't stop. I started finding my own musical interests for the first time. I had my grandmother take me to plays and operas and symphonies. I started to observe pieces of art and I started to learn how to do little sketches and draw manga. I had already discovered my interest in manga/anime at this point but I will get to that in a minute. I had always loved to read and was quite an advanced reader for my age. However my hunger for literature grew. It was like a river suddenly flooding and becoming a raging rapid. I read books in a day. All of this started from simply playing an instrument. It was the most life changing experience I have ever had. Now I should stop myself before I scare off any potential readers by the sheer size of my post. However before that I should explain how I became aware of anime. Like most people it started with the random shows you can find on late night/early morning T.V. Your basics like Gundam and Inuyasha. Dragon Ball, Yu Yu Hakusho. You get the gist. I cant remember exactly at what point I decided to do this or what let me to but one day I decided to go onto Google and look up the anime Evangelion. I believe it was because I saw an episode one night on Adult Swim and it blew my mind. So I went to look it up and found, drum roll please, that you can watch anime on the internet! *Gasp!* It was a wonderful discovery and Evangelion was the first full anime I ever watched. Not exactly an easy entry, nor did i fully understand it at the time. I was finishing elementary or just staring middle school. I can not remember exactly. Regardless, after i finished that I sat and thought and thought and reflected and thought some more, and the one recurring thought I had, was that I needed more. I began an anime watching frenzy. Sam probably remembers. I could finish a 70 episode series in 1-2 days. Kind of representative of what I do with my life, but it made me happy. It was better than normal T.V. at least. It required thought. Most of the time. I know this post is more backstory about me than you ever would need, let alone more than you want. So I will end it here. Right now. I promise. It's ending. Maybe...I like pie. And naps. naps make me happy. It's really nice out right now. I might take a walk. Goodbye. | |
