I noticed I watch too many comedy/romances. I'll do some action ones later.
I was quite surprised when I found out that this was based on a series of true stories written by Ho-sik Kim on the Internet. He described his relationship with his girlfriend after they had split. I instantly thought (
Densha Otoko AKA
Train Man). That wasn't the case, but I found it strangely coincidental that both settings took place in a train.
I'd have to say "tsundere" all the way until the climax of the movie, but it was remarkably done well. The comedy was really enjoyable till the end. You get to learn more about each character this time in this movie. The two love birds are lovable and you still love the The Girl even though she plays tough and was a very demanding person. Which I thought was ironic because Cyborg from Cyborg She was tough too.
There were some parts where I thought it was too cliche and unrealistic, but because it was a movie and the information from the internet novel was only ostensible. I thought, "Hey maybe everything could just be a coincidence" And I payed no more attention to the more skeptical scenarios and tossed away my suspicions.
I recommend that anyone watch this movie on a date. It was really meaningful and it gave me a great laugh. I really didn't learn much from the movie like I did with
Memories of Matsuko. Everything about this movie is likable. This movie is appropriate for all audiences. I might do a
Densha Otoko review, because it was a really touching me and was the first movie to get me into K and J dramas and movies.
8/10 because of its true story and how well portrayed it was.
Here's the link to Ho-sik Kim's blog if you're interested in reading the novel first (Which I'm going to now)
http://my-sassy-jihyun.blogspot.com/search/label/chapter%201I didn't think I'd be doing a review on a korean movie, but it was critically acclaimed in so many East Asia counties that I think it deserved to be mentioned. It turned out to be extremely successful in South Korea and was the highest grossing Korean comedy of all time. 8/10 rating on IMDB.
