[Okay, well, I'm starting to like this thread a lot, but let's see. No picture for this review, so I hope you guys can deal with it. ]
I was a bit skeptical of Memories of Matsuko at first, but the music really drew me in and kept me staring at the screen. You'll notice throughout the entire movie (even with the depressing story) it deals with a lot of vivid colors. I definitely wouldn't recommend this movie to a child because it really isn't suitable nor is it appropriate for one. If you've watched Sweeney Todd, it's nothing like it, but what I'm trying to get at is that it gives you more of a musical feeling (considering there is singing in the movie). For a movie that is really serious, the movie has a light hearted sense to it.
The story was well developed and wasn't lacking in any way. I really felt the emotions of each character. This is a movie that really explores into self-destruction, regret, moving forward, and disappointment. I got really attached to Matsuko and almost forgot that she was dead throughout the entire film (Not a spoiler at all, you know this throughout the entire movie), the ending left me with a tear in my eye because of how much emotion built up to the very end. It was an impressive tragic comedy. I really don't have much to say about this movie, but here's a rating.
7.5/10
