| I just found out, today, that my ISP (AT&T) has capped my (and all of their customers') internet usage to 150 GB-per-month. To the average* user, that may seem like a lot. After all, that requires one to send 50 million e-mails to reach that limit. One would have to be an extreme social outcast in order to sit around all day and use up that much internet! ... or at the least, that is what my ISP would like you to think, to justify their purely, profit-motivated scheme. In the past month, I have "used-up" well over 100 GB from leeching and seeding torrents, alone. That does not take in to account the great amount of data I have downloaded, directly from file-hosting sites. With the imposed cap on the internet, I will not be able to download as many anime, music, manga or other misc. things (like porn, jk) without being charged fees for "using up too much bandwidth." Here is where I really get mad**, so bear with the rant: - ISPs*** make the case that the "average" user's internet is unfairly slowed down because of the "very few, inconsiderate, and unjustifiable bandwidth hogs," yet they do not present any data or evidence to backup their claims.
- ISPs buy you over with offers of incredible DL and UL speeds, yet they DO NOT tell you, up front, that you can only use those speeds sparingly, and with extreme caution, or you will go over the internet-usage cap, and be forced to pay a bogus fine. What is the bloody point of offering such great "bandwidth-hogging" speeds to customers, if they can't use it to their advantage??****
- (I was just distracted from writing the rest of this post, by chores, so I will seize this opportunity to cool the rage-cells in my body, by ending it here)
* Average, used in this context, is the technologically illiterate/incompatible/oblivious person that either: Chooses to not use their computer for anything other than checking their e-mail -or- Doesn't know how to ** I used a list, because I didn't not expect myself to be mentally composed enough to form sound sentences *** The ISP I am most familiar with, and currently use (hopefully not for long), is AT&T; so, that is the ISP that I am mainly, but not exclusively, referring to. **** It is because the ISPs have realized that they can rip customers off with minimum interference and complaints from consumers, because the current state of internet-ineptness in our population. If you did not already figure out the point I was trying to convey, with this question, and you still don't understand it, please keep that tidbit to yourself (for my sake, and the sake of the peoples' safety that are around me)

| Are you aware that torrenting is generally highly illegal and thus really doesn't allow much room for complaining on the downloading end? The ISPs have that limit to prevent their servers from being raped like small girls when tentacle monsters are around, so yeah. Just a penny for your thoughts. | |
